Referral schemes turn an existing player into a distribution channel, which in a market that restricts gambling advertising is a more delicate arrangement than it first appears. This page covers both halves: how the reward mechanism works, and what you are agreeing to when you send an invitation.

The mechanism

The account generates a personal link or code. Someone registers through it, funds the account with a qualifying euro amount, and plays through a stated volume. Only then does a reward appear, and often only after a holding period. Both sides may receive something, though the amounts are rarely equal and the invited person is typically steered towards the ordinary welcome offer instead — the two frequently cannot be combined.

Rewards are usually credited as promotional balance carrying a turnover requirement rather than as unrestricted euro. Why sharing is limited

Latvia restricts the advertising of gambling. A referral link posted into a public forum, a social feed or a paid placement starts to resemble advertising rather than a private recommendation, and operator terms reflect that by confining referrals to genuine personal contacts. Breaching the clause commonly voids the reward, and repeated breaches can put the referring account itself at risk.

There is a second reason the rules are tight: referral schemes are a classic vector for multi-accounting. Terms therefore refuse rewards where the invited account shares a household, a device, a payment instrument or an address with the referrer. Operators check for these overlaps, and the outcome is usually the loss of the reward on both sides rather than a warning.

What you take on by inviting someone

An invitation is a recommendation, and the person receiving it will read it as one. Before sending it, three things are worth confirming. That the recipient is over 18, which is the legal minimum in Latvia. That they are not on the state self-exclusion register maintained by IAUI, the Izložu un azartspēļu uzraudzības inspekcija — an invitation to someone who has excluded themselves is a serious thing to send. And that you would be comfortable with the recommendation regardless of the reward attached to it.

Checking the domain before you pass it on

A referral link carries your endorsement to a domain. IAUI publishes a register of licensed operators and a separate list of sites blocked for serving Latvian players without a licence; both are public and take a minute to search. Sending someone to a domain you have not checked is the one avoidable mistake in this entire arrangement. When does a referral reward actually pay?
Not at signup. The standard trigger is a qualifying euro deposit by the invited person plus a stated amount of real-money play, and sometimes completed identity confirmation as well. Between the invitation and the reward there is usually a waiting period, which exists to filter out accounts created purely to harvest the payment.
Am I allowed to share my referral link publicly?
Latvian law restricts the advertising of gambling, and posting promotional links into open channels is closer to advertising than to a private recommendation. Referral terms generally confine sharing to people you actually know and prohibit paid placement, forums and social posts. Breaching that clause typically voids the reward and can affect the account itself.
What happens if the person I invite lives outside Latvia?
They may not be able to register at all.
